Climate of Agra :
Agra, most famous for the Taj Mahal is located on the banks of river Yamuna, 200 kilometers south of Delhi, the capital of India. The climate of Agra is semiarid and features mild winters followed by hot and dry summers and the monsoon season. The temperatures in summers can reach 45o centigrade and can reach to as low as 5o centigrade in winters. The best time to visit Agra is from November to March.

Taj Mahal :
Taj Mahal is one of the new Seven Wonders of the World and also a UNESCO World Heritage site. Taj Mahal is India's one of the most fascinating and beautiful monuments. Made entirely of marble, the construction of Taj Mahal involved more than 20,000 masons, workers and jewelers.

Agra Fort :
Agra Fort is another example of the great architecture of the Mughal era and is also a world heritage site. Constructed during the rule of great Mughal Emperor Akbar, Agra fort is made of red sandstones. Important buildings in the fort include Pearl Mosque, Diwan-e-Aam, Diwan-e-Khas, Jahangir Palace, Khas Mahal and Shish Mahal.

Fatehpur Sikri :
Built by the great Mughal Emperor Akbar around 35 kilometers from Agra, Fatehpur Sikri was also the capital of Mughal Empire for a short time before being abandoned. Another World Heritage Site of Agra, Fatehpur Sikri boasts of Buland Darwaza that was built by Akbar to commemorate his victory over Gujarat. Made with red sand stone, Buland Darwaza is 54 meters high, 35 meters wide and could be approached by a fleet of 52 steps.

Apart from the three World Heritage Sites, there are many other buildings and monuments that attract tourists from all over the world to Agra. Some of the important tourist attractions here are - Jama Masjid, Akbar's Tomb, Swami Bagh Samadhi, Mankameshwar Temple, Ankit Ka Tal and Ram Bagh .

Location of Agra: Agra city is located on the bank of river Yamuna in the north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Agra is located at a distance of 200 kilometers from the capital of India, New Delhi towards it south, and around 363 kilometers west of the state capital, Lucknow.

How to Reach Agra By Air :
Agra airport is at a distance of around 12.5 kilometers from the city centre. The nearest international airport is in New Delhi, at a distance of 200 kilometers.

By Rail :
Agra is located on the central line connecting Delhi with Mumbai and Chennai and therefore is well connected with rest of the India by an extensive rail network. Agra has three railway stations - Agra Cantt, Agra Fort Railway Station and Raja Ki Mandi.

By Road:
Located on the way that connects India's capital, New Delhi to the financial capital of India, Mumbai; National highway connects Agra with Delhi and Mumbai. In addition to national highways, Agra is also well connected with other cities by state highways.
