India Climate

India has tropical monsoon climate and the climatic conditions in India differ from place to place. The southwestern and northeastern monsoons are the reason for the change in climatic factors. India has four seasons. Summer (March to the end of June), rainy (middle of June through September), post monsoon (October to December), winter (December through February). North eastern India receives the heaviest rainfall. Southwest monsoon helps in agriculture. Recorded lowest temperature of India is -45 C (-49 F) in eastern Jammu and Kashmir. Rajasthan experienced the highest temperature of 50.6C (123.1 F) in 1955.
